We had the best time on our family vacation to Florida! It was wonderful to trade the snow for some much needed sunshine! We were so happy that Papa could join us! We loved staying at the house that we rented on the canal. The kids especially enjoyed swimming in our heated pool. I was amazed at how much each of the kids improved on their swimming skills while we stayed there! They never wanted to get out of the pool, especially Greta!
We loved swimming in the Gulf of Mexico and we enjoyed some beach days at Lovers Key State Park Beach, Bowmens Beach on Sanibel Island, and Delnor-Wiggins State Park Beach. We went to Everglades National Park for the first time and it was lovely. We went on an Airboat ride and our driver gave us a crazy fast ride through the swamps! We went on many hikes and got a little too close to many alligators for my liking! My favorite part was driving down a dirt road that felt like an Everglades safari. We saw many alligators right next to our car and we had the safety of the car! Asa spotted some adorable baby alligators! We also enjoyed seeing many beautiful tropical birds.
We went on a fishing charter boat ride out on the Gulf. It was a beautiful ride out on the ocean. We were able to see dolphins up close right next to our boat! That never gets old! Everyone caught many fish, it was a delightful time! Some of our friends were down vacationing near us. We met up at the beach with the Long family and the Vest family. We also went on a nature hike with the Vest family. We met up with the Schlenker family at the beach too! It was a special treat to meet up with good friends in Florida.
The view of our canal.
